Sailesh appointed as The Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India

Additional Secretary of Home Affairs, Sailesh, on 7 January 2016 was appointed as the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India.

He is a 1985 Batch Assam-Meghalaya Cadre IAS officer and would be succeeding C Chandramauli, who completed his central deputation tenure on 7 January 2016.

• The Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner, Ministry of Home Affairs is responsible for conducting the decennial Census.
