Sodexo Announced Acquiring Chennai-Based MacLellan India
Sodexo, the French major in vouchers and catering announced acquiring MacLellan on 9 Jan 2013. MacLellan offers maintenance and facility management services.
Sodexo, the French major in vouchers and catering announced acquiring MacLellan on 9 January 2013. With this acquisition, Sodexo strengthened its foothold in the segment of 10000 crore Rupees facility management services. However, Sodexo or MacLellan did not disclose the details of this deal.
Sodexo announced that it would acquire the MacLellan Indian operations that facilitate catering, gardening, cleaning, mechanical, electrical as well as other services to the corporate firms in different sectors like education, automotive, healthcare as well as IT. MacLellan already has its strong presence in South India but with its acquisition, it would be able to spread its tentacles wide.
The acquisition, on the other hand, will help Sodexo to double the turnover to 2000 crore Rupees by the end of 2015, growing at 15-20 percent rate annually. The client base of the company will also expand to 1000 from 350 at present. The strength of employees will expand from 34000 to 40000.
The CEO of Sodexo announced that India was the rapidly growing industry for facility management. After the acquisition, Sodexo would become even more consumer-centric.
