Tata Starbucks appointed Sumi Ghosh as Chief Executive Officer

Tata Starbucks on 17 December 2015 announced the appointment of Sumi Ghosh as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with effect from 1 January 2016.

The announcement came after Avani Davda resigned from the position of CEO of the Seattle-based coffee chain.

Before the appointment, Ghosh served as vice president of the US mid-west region for Starbucks. She has been with Starbucks as a group for the last eight years and comes with over three decades of retail industry experience.

Tata Starbucks Limited is a 50:50 joint venture company, owned by Tata Global Beverages and Starbucks Corporation, that owns and operates Starbucks outlets in India.

On 19 October 2012, Starbucks opened its first store in India, measuring 4500 sq ft in Elphinstone Building, Horniman Circle, Mumbai.
