Following scanty rainfall in 2015, Telangana Government on 24 November 2015 declared 231 mandals as drought-hit.
The state government has submitted the list of drought-prone mandals and urged it to provide an immediate assistance of 1000 crore rupees to mitigate the situation. It also urged the Union government to send a Central team to assess drought conditions in the state
Drought conditions are acute in Mahaboob Nagar (64), Medak (46), Nizamabad (36) and Ranga Reddy districts (33 out of 37) and partial in Karimnagar (19 of 57), Nalgonda (22 of 59) and Warangal (11 of 51).
