  1. Indian Army successfully test-fires Spike LR missile

The Spike Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) was successfully tested during the Indian Army's Infantry Commanders' Conference at Mhow, Madhya Pradesh. Army Chief General Bipin Rawat was also present during this test. This missile was developed by Israel's Rafale Advanced Defense System. The missile was launched with immediate effect, keeping in view the needs of the army.

  1. Lok Sabha passes bill to regularise unauthorised colonies

The bill to regulate unauthorized colonies in Delhi was passed by the Lok Sabha. Opposition parties within the House questioned the timing of the bill brought just before the Delhi Assembly elections, but no one opposed it. The central government will create social infrastructure in these colonies once it will recognize. Not only this, the fees from the registry will be kept in a reserve fund and will be used for the development of the same colony.

  1. Global temperature will rise 3.2 degree Celsius by 2100: UNEP Report

Global temperature is projected to rise by 3.2 degrees Celsius by the end of this century. A new United Nations report warned that global temperature is rising rapidly. It also states that such a situation will have a more devastating effect due to climate change. According to the United Nations Climate Program's annual emission gap report, all countries should increase their contribution to reducing greenhouse gases.

  1. Daman Diu and Dadra Nagar Haveli Merger Bill Passed in Lok Sabha

The Lok Sabha passed the 'Dadara and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu (Merger of Union Territories) Bill, 2019'. The bill will make it one Union Territory, comprising Union Territories of Daman and Diu and Dadar and Nagar Haveli. Minister of State for Home Kishan Reddy, while replying to the discussion on the bill, thanked the members for supporting the bill and said that the passage of this bill will accelerate the development of both union territories.

 

  1. Uddhav Thackeray becomes 18th CM of Maharashtra

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray took the oath of chief minister of Maharashtra at the historic Shivaji Park in Mumbai. Uddhav Thackeray has become the first member of the Thackeray family who has reached at the Chief Minister's post. He is the 18th Chief Minister of Maharashtra. All the big leaders of Congress (Congress), NCP and Shiv Sena were present in the swearing-in ceremony.

  1. Union Cabinet extends term of 15th Finance Commission till October 2020

The government has given its nod to the extension of the term of the fifteenth Finance Commission, Now, this commission will work till October 30, 2020. Cabinet approved the bill, in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It also approved the finance commission to submit the first report for the fiscal year 2020-21.

  1. Lok Sabha passes bill banning e-cigarettes

The Lok Sabha passed the voice vote on the 'Electronic Cigarettes (Production, Manufacturing, Import, Export, Transport, Sales, Distribution, Storage and Advertising) Restriction Bill' banning electronic cigarettes. Responding to the discussion on the bill, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan said that the passage of this bill will prevent the younger generation from getting intoxicated from e-cigarettes in the country.

Arcadia Education Project, in Bangladesh, has recently won the Aga Khan Architecture Award 2019. The project is also known as a floating school project. This award has been given due to its architecture and objective behind such an innovating design. The floating school is actually a school, built on the base of tires, bamboos and natural materials that enables it to float during floods and stays on the land during the dry season.

  1. Cartosat-3 successfully launched, ISRO’s another achievement in space

Cartosat-3 is one of India's most complex and advanced earth imaging satellite. Earlier, ISRO launched Mission Chandrayaan-2, whose lander Vikram crashed on the lunar surface on September 7, due to failure of the soft landing. ISRO said that all 13 nanosatellites of the US were placed in Earth's orbit. Cartosat is the country's high-resolution civilian satellite.

  1. Malayalam poet Akkitham bags 55th Jnanpith Award

Malayalam poet Akkitham Achuthan Namboodri has been declared as the winner of the prestigious Jnanpith Award 2019. He was named for this award because of his contribution to the literature through his writings. He will be awarded Rs. 11 lakh, a Vagdevi statue, a memento and a citation.
