Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board will be resuming the Vaishno Devi yatra with effect from August 16, 2020. The Board had suspended the Yatra four months ago due to COVID-19 pandemic. The announcement came after the government of Jammu & Kashmir decided to open religious places of the Union Territory.

eVIN to offer immunization services during Coronavirus Outbreak

Electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network (eVIN) will be providing essential immunization services during the Coronavirus pandemic. The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare stated that eVIN will provide real-time data on storage temperatures and vaccine stocks for all cold chain points.

UAE becomes 1st gulf country to produce nuclear energy

United Arab Emirates (UAE) has become the first gulf country to produce nuclear energy with the operationalisation of Unit 1 of Abu Dhabi-based Barakah nuclear power plant. The Unit 1 is using nuclear fuel to produce energy under ‘criticality’ phase. The plant will begin operations later this year.

First ‘Kisan Rail’ to run from 7 August between Maharashtra, Bihar

Railways Ministry will run India's first ‘Kisan Rail’ from August 7, 2020 between Maharashtra and Bihar. The train will begin from Devlali, in Maharashtra at 11 am and its last stop will be at Danapur, Bihar. The train will be making several stoppages at stations carrying fruits and vegetables. It will not carry regular passengers.

Manoj Sinha appointed as new J&K Lieutenant Governor

President Ram Nath Kovind has appointed Manoj Sinha as the new Lieutenant Governor of UT Jammu and Kashmir. Sinha will succeed Girish Chandra Murmu, who resigned from his post on August 5, 2020. Sinha has joined the LG office with immediate effect. Murmu is expected to be appointed as India's next Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG).

Former Jammu and Kashmir LG Girish Chandra Murmu was appointed as the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India. His appointment becomes effective from the date he assumes charge of the CAG office. Earlier, Murmu resigned as Lt Governor of Jammu & Kashmir on August 5, 2020.

US President Trump signs order to ban TikTok

US President Trump has signed an executive order banning Chinese video-sharing app TikTok and its parent company. The ban will be effective within 45 days. The order bans any transaction with TikTok parent's company ByteDance Ltd or any other company concerned with it.
