Mary Kom recommended for Padma Vibhushan, PV Sindhu for Padma Bhushan: All women Padma awards

Mary Kom has been recommended for the Padma Vibhushan Award, India’s second-highest civilian award. PV Sindhu’s name has been suggested for the Padma Bhushan Award. The Sports Ministry has also named seven other female athletes for the Padma awards, making the awards women-dominated this time.

Water discovered on a potentially habitable super-Earth!

Water has been found by scientists in the atmosphere of a potentially habitable super-Earth. The exoplanet, named K2-18b, is twice the size and eight times the mass of Earth. K2-18b is the first planet outside the solar system in the habitable zone of its star. The exoplanet also lies within the habitable zone of its star, which means it will have the right temperature for liquid water to exist on the surface of the planet and potentially support life. 

DRDO successfully test fires indigenously developed Anti-Tank Guided Missile system

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully test-fired an indigenously-developed Man-Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile (MPATGM) system on September 11. This test was conducted at Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. The Man-Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile (MPATGM) is an indigenous missile which is based on the fire-and-forget system.

100 Days of Civil Aviation Ministry: India’s tallest air traffic control tower inaugurated

The Ministry of Civil aviation has undertaken several initiatives in the first 100 days of governance under Modi government 2.0 to boost growth in the aviation sector and enable affordable flying. The tallest Air Traffic Control tower was inaugurated in India earlier this month at the Indira Gandhi International Airport. The tower will ensure up-to-date services and systems for efficient, smooth and uninterrupted air traffic management.

Swacchta hi Seva 2019: Explained

Swachhta hi Seva 2019 was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Mathura on September 11, 2019. The Swachhta hi Sewa 2019 theme is ‘plastic waste awareness and management’. Swachhta hi Seva is a massive nationwide awareness and mobilization campaign on Swachhta. It is being organized from September 11 till October 2, 2019.
