1. (a) M. Venkaiah Naidu
Rajya Sabha for the first time in 76 years entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with a foreign counterpart for promoting inter-parliamentary dialogue. Venkaiah Naidu has become the first Chairman of Rajya Sabha to sign such an agreement when he inked an MOU with the visiting President of Rwanda Bernard Makuza.
2. (b) Andhra Pradesh
For the second year in a row, Andhra Pradesh has topped the third edition of the government’s ‘Ease of Doing Business’ Index 2018 with a final score of 98.42 percent. Andhra Pradesh was followed by neighbouring Telangana (98.33 percent score) and Haryana (98.07 percent score) at the second and third position, respectively.
3. (c) Gujarat
The Gujarat Government granted religious minority status to Jewish community living in the state. The GR to this effect was issued on July 6 by the state’s Department of Social Justice and Empowerment. As religious minority members professing the faith of Judaism, they shall get the religious minority rights envisaged in the Constitution and various acts and rules of the state government.
4. (d) South Korea
India and South Korea on July 9, 2018 signed five MoUs for cooperation in the field of Science & Technology. The MoUs were signed at the conclusion of the 4th India-Korea Science & Technology Ministers Steering Committee Meeting. The Korean delegation was led by South Korean President Moon Jae-in, who arrived in New Delhi on July 8, 2018 on a three-day visit.

US President Donald Trump on July 9, 2018 nominated conservative Brett Kavanaugh as the Supreme Court Judge to succeed Justice Anthony Kennedy, who recently announced his retirement. The announcement was made by President Trump during his prime time address to the nation from the White House.

India Smart Cities Fellowship (ISCF) and Internship (ISCI) Program launched to provide opportunity to youth to work in the domain of urban planning and governance. According to ‘Twiplomacy’ 2018 study, India’s external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj is not only the most followed female world leader but also the most followed foreign minister in the world. She occupies the seventh spot in the overall ranking.

Considering the number of retweets as a measure of effectiveness, Saudi Arabia’s King Salman is the most effective world leader on Twitter. He has only tweeted 11 times between May 2017 and May 2018, but each of his tweets has received an average of 154,294 retweets. His posts are exclusively in Arabic and without any visuals.
9. (b) INS Sumitra
Indian naval ship INS Sumitra has become the first-ever warship to enter port of Sabang in Indonesia. The Indian Navy said, INS Sumitra was received by traditional dancers and Indonesian traditional band. The ship was welcomed by Indian Ambassador to Indonesia PK Rawat, Indonesian foreign affairs officials, members from Indian embassy, Indian businessmen and Indonesian naval and air force officers onboard. The warship was deployed in Malacca Straits.
10. (b) Vadodara Airport
The Vadodara airport in Gujarat will soon switch over to solar energy for its everyday operations, as its ground-mounted grid-connected solar plant is ready for commissioning. The main aim behind the move is to shift to cleaner and greener source of energy and cut down on electricity cost.
11. (d) Haryana
The Haryana government has enhanced the ex-gratia grant for family members of police personnel who die in the line of duty from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 30 lakh.
12. (c) Gujarat
The Gujarat government is mulling to invest additional Rs 39 crore to develop infrastructure for state's ‘Seema Darshan’ or border tourism project at Nadabet near Suigam in Banaskantha district.
