1. (a) Allahabad Bank
The Union Government has dismissed Usha Ananthasubramanian, former CEO/ MD of Allahabad Bank and scam hit Punjab National Bank (PNB), from service. The bank had earlier divested Ananthasubramanian of all her powers as MD three months back, after she was named in the CBI charge-sheet in the Rs 14,000 crore PNB fraud case.
2. (d) Yegna Priya Bharat
The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) on August 13, 2018 constituted a working group to update the norms for insurance surveyors. The working group, which will comprise 7 members, has been formed to address areas pertaining to licensing, renewal and IIISLA membership. It will be headed by Yegna Priya Bharat, Chief General Manager (Nonlife), IRDA.
3. (c) Madhya Pradesh
The Shaheed Saman Diwas will be observed in all districts of Madhya Pradesh on August 14, 2018. The day aims to honour the families of martyrs belonging to Madhya Pradesh, who sacrificed their lives while discharging duty at the time of war, military action and internal security.

The US Defence Department will create a Space Force as the sixth branch of the military by 2020, Vice President Mike Pence announced. Advancements in space technology made it clear that space is the new battlefield for the 21st Century, Pence said.

Iran's Defence Minister unveiled the next generation of Tehran's Fateh Mobin short-range ballistic missile on August 13, 2018. The minister, Brigadier General Amir Hatami, described the new version of the Fateh Mobin as 100-percent domestically made, agile, stealth, tactical and precision-guided. Iran's missile programme is a major bone of contention with world powers, particularly the United States.

The Airports Authority of India has already identified the sites in Odisha, Gujarat, Assam, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh where water aerodrome would be developed. Justice Gita Mittal was sworn in as the first woman Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court on August 11, 2018. Justice Mittal earlier served as a Delhi High Court judge for 14 years.

Chhattisgarh Governor Balramji Das Tandon passed away on August 14, 2018 following a brief illness at Ambedkar Hospital in Raipur. He was 90. Tandon was one of the founder members of the Jansangh which later became the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He became the Governor of Chhattisgarh in July 2014.
9. (a) Jodhpur
Minister of Railways, Coal, Finance & Corporate Affairs, Piyush Goyal on August 13, 2018 released the Third Party Survey Report on Station Cleanliness. The rankings depict that in A-1 category stations, two important tourist stations, that is, Jodhpur (1st place) and Jaipur (2nd place) of North Western Railway in Rajasthan have made their mark.
10. (c) Marwar
In A category stations, Marwar was placed at 1st position, followed by Phulera station at 2nd position. Both the stations are from North Western Railway in Rajasthan. The 3rd place goes to Warangal station of South Central Railway in Telangana.
