Seychelles President Danny Faure, ahead of his state visit to India, denied undertaking India-Seychelles joint project to develop naval base at Assumption Island of Seychelles. He also stated that Seychelles will develop military facilities at the island on its own.

The world's oldest known Sumatran orangutan has died in an Australian zoo at the age of 62. Puan, described as the grand old lady of Perth Zoo, was euthanised on June 18 due to age-related complications. She had been at the zoo since 1968 and was officially recognised by Guinness World Records.

HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar launched the National Digital Library on June 19, 2018. The library aims to be a single window platform for all educational needs. Users can register for free National Digital Library from Google Play store.

The Chhattisgarh Government has approved the merger of `shikshakarmi' with the state school education department with effect from July 1. The decision is expected to benefit around 1.50 lakh shikshakarmi who are currently working under Panchayats and urban local bodies.

The third annual International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict was observed across the world on June 19, 2018. The day aims to foster solidarity with the survivors who endure multiple, intersecting stigmas in the wake of sexual violence.

The Indian Army is observing the year 2018 as the ‘Year of Disabled Soldiers in Line of Duty’ to honour soldiers who have been disabled in the line of duty while serving the nation and to celebrate the undying spirit of ‘Soldiering’.
