The world's first International Centre for Humanitarian Forensics was launched at Gandhinagar in Gujarat on June 20, 2018. It is a joint venture of the Regional delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross in India, Bhutan, Nepal and the Maldives and also Gujarat Forensic Science University.
2. (a) Google
Technology giant Google recently announced the launch of a training programme for journalists with an aim to raise awareness against misinformation and providing new tools to the fourth estate against fake news. The Google News Initiative India Training Network will provide training to 8,000 journalists in English and six other Indian languages in the next one year.

Anukreethy Vas was crowned Femina Miss India World 2018. Anukreethy, who beat 30 contestants to bag the honour, will now represent India at this year's Miss World.

The annual Asia and Oceania Region Inter-Governmental Ministerial meeting on anti-doping began in Colombo, Sri Lanka on June 20, 2018 with representatives from 29 countries including India. The 15th such annual gathering is also being attended by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) to discuss important anti-doping issues that will help in the fight for clean sport.

Renowned music composer A R Rahman has been appointed as the Brand Ambassador of the Sikkim government, as per an official notification. Rahman will promote and project the state's achievements nationally and globally.

The Union Water Resources Ministry has teamed up with Google to generate flood warnings. If there are signs of an imminent flood, a Google Maps user will be able to see what regions are likely to see water logging first and if their neighbourhood is under threat.

US golfer Brooks Koepka won the 118th edition of the US Open golf championship at the Shinnecock Hills course in New York on June 17, 2018. Koepka has created history by becoming the first man since Curtis Strange in 1989 to successfully defend his U.S. Open title.
