The Union government has constituted a high-level committee to suggest laws against mob lynching and violence. The high-level committee, headed by the Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba, will submit its suggestions to the Home ministry within 4 weeks.

The Lok Sabha on July 23, 2018 passed the Negotiable Instruments (Amendment) Bill, 2017 that seeks to amend the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881. The Act has amended to deal firmly with cheque bounce cases.
3. (c) Lupin Foundation
The NITI Aayog signed Statement of Intent (SoI) with Lupin Foundation to collaborate in Aspirational Districts Programme. The purpose of the programme is to improve indicators in education, health and nutrition, financial inclusion and skill development, agriculture and water resources in Aspirational Districts of India.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has set up a ministerial committee to prepare a draft policy for the development of Odia film industry. The committee will also examine different problems being faced by the Odia cinema industry.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will soon issue new Rs 100 denomination currency notes in the Mahatma Gandhi series, bearing the image of Rani Ki Vav at the reverse side. The base colour of the new denomination is lavender and contains other designs, geometric patterns aligning with the overall colour scheme both at the observe and reverse.

An Indian Air Force contingent comprising of four Su-30 MKI fighter aircraft on July 24, 2018 landed at Darwin Air Force Base, Australia for participating in the Exercise Pitch Black-2018. This is the first time that an Indian Air Force contingent is participating in this multinational air exercise in Australia.

The Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik launched the 'Green Mahanadi Mission' on July 24, 2018. The mission is a plantation drive under which 2 crore saplings will be planted along the Mahanadi river and its tributaries.

The 10th edition of BRICS Summit began in Johannesburg, South Africa on July 25 with the theme- ‘BRICS in Africa: Collaboration for inclusive growth and shared prosperity in the 4th Industrial Revolution'. Attended by all the BRICS leaders, the BRICS Summit 2018 will be held from July 25 to July 27.
9. (d) Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment
The Ministry of Women and Child Development has launched a contest, #Childline1098, inviting people to share images of the Childline 1098 logo that they spot at unique locations and send it with a tagline, to mark the World Day against Trafficking in Persons on July 30. CHILDLINE is India's first 24-hour, free, emergency phone service for children in need of aid and assistance.
10. (a) Bihar
The Bihar Assembly had passed a bill to amend some of the stringent provisions of the prohibition law in order to prevent its misuse and make the quantum of punishment proportionate to the nature of offence. The new amendment removes the provision for booking all the adult members of a household if liquor is found in the house.

The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) is organising a three-day National Conclave in New Delhi to address various grievances of the trading community and focus on effective solutions. The strategy to protect local business from the emerging International influence in retail will be among the key topics of discussion at the event.
