1. (a) Vodafone India and Idea Cellular
The Department of Telecom (DoT) on July 26, 2018 gave the final approval to the merger of Vodafone India and Idea Cellular. The approval for Vodafone-Idea merger came days after Idea Cellular and Vodafone India jointly paid Rs. 7,268.78 crore 'under protest' to the DoT.
2. (b) #InnovateIndia
The NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission and MyGov platform on July 26, 2018 jointly launched the ‘#InnovateIndia Platform’, collaboration between both the platforms. The #InnovateIndia was launched by R Ramanan, Mission Director of Atal Innovation Mission and Arvind Gupta, CEO of MyGov.
3. (c) Bharat Vatwani and Sonam Wangchuk
Two Indians, namely, Bharat Vatwani and Sonam Wangchuk on July 26, 2018 won the 2018 Ramon Magsaysay Award, the Asian version of the Nobel Prize. Bharat Vatwani is a psychiatrist who works for the mentally-ill street persons, while, Sonam Wangchuk works to harness science and culture creatively for economic progress that has improved the lives of the Ladakhi youth.
4. (d) Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf
Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) party on July 26, 2018 emerged as the single largest party after the Pakistan Elections 2018 that were held on July 25, 2018. With just the half of the votes counted, PTI secured 119 seats in the National Assembly. The majority mark in the National Assembly is 137 seats. However, Pakistan’s election commission has not yet released official final results.
5. (d) US
The first two-plus-two dialogue will be held between India and the United States in September 2018. The meet was announced last year during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's meeting with President Donald Trump. However, it was rescheduled twice since then.
6. (b) Johannesburg Declaration
The heads of state and government of all five BRICS nations including Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa convened for the 10th BRICS Summit from July 25-27, 2018 in Johannesburg, South Africa. The summit saw the BRICS leaders come together and discuss various international and regional issues of common concern and adopt the Johannesburg Declaration by consensus.

BRICS is made up of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. The group was formed initially with just four nations –Brazil, Russia, India and China (BRIC). In December 2010, China, the Chair of the group then, invited South Africa to join BRIC and attend the Summit in Sanya, China, following which BRIC became BRICS.
8. (d) Gujarat
The Gujarat government on July 26, 2018 came out with an `Urban Sanitation and Cleanliness Policy' for better management of solid and liquid waste in cities. The policy aims at complete abolition of manual scavenging.
9. (b) Sharmila Tagore
Bollywood actress Sharmila Tagore was on July 26, 2018 conferred D Litt (Honoris Causa) by West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi at a special convocation of Kazi Nazrul University held at the Raj Bhawan here. Renowned scientist at the Bhaba Atomic Research Centre, S M Yusuf was conferred D.Sc. (Honoris Causa).
10. (b) Arunachal Pradesh
The Pema Khandu led Arunachal Pradesh government has said it would soon replace the health insurance scheme conceived by the previous regime with a new one, as per official notification released on July 26, 2018. The new Chief Minister's Arogya Arunachal Yojana (CMAAY) will enable citizens to avail cashless health services in empanelled hospitals.
