The National Viral Hepatitis Control programme was launched by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to combat the disease by 2030 in the country. Under the initiative, free drugs and diagnostics for Hepatitis B and C will be provided at all government hospitals.
2. (a) Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf
According to the Pakistan Elections results 2018 announced by the Election Commission of Pakistan on July 29, 2018, Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has emerged as the single largest party in the National Assembly after the Pakistan Elections 2018. The PTI has bagged a total of 116 seats.
3. (b) Artificial Intelligence
India and UAE signed an agreement to spur discussion and explore options for both countries to grow their artificial intelligence economies. The UAE Minister for Artificial Intelligence and Invest India signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the India-UAE Artificial Intelligence Bridge.
4. (d) Rajasthan
Rajasthan will soon have its first 'cow sanctuary', a shelter for 10,000 bovines spread over an area of more than 220 hectares in Bikaner district. The state government signed an MoU with a private trust in this regard.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 29, 2018 launched 81 projects worth Rs 60000 crore in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. All these 81 projects are part of the 1045 MoUs that were signed at the Uttar Pradesh Investors' Summit that was held on February 21- 22, 2018.
6. (a) Justice Srikrishna Committee
Justice BN Srikrishna Committee on July 27, 2018 submitted its report on the data protection law to Union Minister for Electronics and IT, law and justice, Ravi Shankar Prasad. The Bill will apply to processing of personal data within India, including the State.

The Assam government has released the second and final draft of the state’s National Register of Citizens (NRC). The list incorporates names of 2.89 crore people out of 3.29 crore applicants. However, the names of 40.07 lakh people have been left out.
8. (a) Indian Railways
The Indian Railways launched ‘Mission Satyanishtha’ and a programme on Ethics in Public Governance, in a first-of-its-kind event, at a day-long function in New Delhi. The mission aims to sensitise all railway employees about the need to adhere to good ethics and to maintain high standards of integrity at work.

Ace Indian shuttler Sourabh Verma lifted the Russian Open Badminton trophy at Vladivostok on July 29, 2018. In the title clash, Sourabh came back from a game behind to beat Japan's Koki Watanabe, 18-21, 21-12, 21-17. This is Verma’s first title of the season. He had previously won the Chinese Taipei Masters in 2016.
10. (c) Moscow
The International Army Games 2018 at Patriot Park in Moscow region was declared open by Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu. The games are being held from July 28 to August 11 at 24 training grounds in seven countries namely Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Iran, Kazakhstan, China and Russia.
11. (c) Telangana
The Telangana government has decided to take up a census of the backward class (BC) population in the state. A decision in this regard was taken at the meeting of the Telangana cabinet on July 27. A scheme of eye-testing for all the citizens would also be launched across the state on August 15.

The World Hepatitis Day was observed globally on July 28, 2018 with the theme "Test. Treat. Hepatitis". The day aims to scale-up of hepatitis prevention, testing, treatment and care services. Hepatitis is a chronic infection that may not show symptoms for a long period, sometimes even for years or decades.
