Truecaller ties-up with Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank and Google in India
The ‘Airtel Truecaller ID’ feature will identify a caller and send his information via a flash message in advance.
Stockholm-based Truecaller on 28 March 2017 tied-up with Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank and Google in India and also launched the latest version of its application with new features.
The latest version of the app Truecaller 8 extends the caller ID to SMSes while also enabling users to filter out all spam messages. There’s a new Flash messaging feature that allows users to quickly send pre-set customised messages, smileys or location to a contact.
Partnership with Bharti Airtel
The partnership with Bharti Airtel will bring Truecaller app to feature phones in India. The caller ID feature of Truecaller will be extended to Bharti’s non-data users using feature phones. The ‘Airtel Truecaller ID’ feature will identify a caller and send his information via a flash message in advance. The service will be rolled out in April 2017.
Partnership with ICICI Bank
On the other hand, in partnership with ICICI bank, Truecaller will launch its new payments service called Truecaller Pay. The Unified Payments Interface-based service will allow users to send or receive money using an UPI ID or via mobile numbers registered with BHIM app.
The Truecaller payments service will be available to ICICI as well as non-ICICI users. It can be used to recharge phone and pay postpaid bills. The service powered by ICICI bank is absolutely secure and follows 2-factor authentication as per RBI guidelines.
Partnership with Google Duo
While, Google Duo will be integrated into the Truecaller app allowing users to make video calls through it. The updated Truecaller app will now have a ‘Duo’ icon along with ‘Call’ and ‘SMS’ icon in its dialer.
This will add a crucial communications layer that strengthens the value of Truecaller’s dialer, caller ID, and spam blocking service that is already used by more than 250 million users globally.
