Union Cabinet approved Committee to probe into Lobbying Activities of Wal-Mart

The Union Cabinet of India on 24 January 2013 approved a one-man committee to probe into the lobbying activities of Wal-Mart. The decision came following the reports of media in relation to Wal-Mart. The committee has been directed to submit its report within three months.

Reference terms for the committee include:

•   The committee is responsible to inquire into recent reports from the media on confession of Wal-Mart before the US Senate about their lobbying activities and details
•   To look into the activities of Wal-Mart and identify that did it undertook the any illegal activities by breaking the laws prevalent in Indian
•   To look into all the matter, that is relevant or incidental in content of the above mentioned statements
