Union Government on 28 November 2014 nominated Rajiv Mehrishi as a Director on the Central Board of Directors of Reserve Bank of India.
He is a 1978-batch Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer of Rajasthan cadre.
He succeeded Arvind Mayaram. At the time of being appointed as Director on RBI Central Board, Mehrishi was working as Secretary of Department of Economic Affairs in Union Ministry of Finance.
Prior to Secretary of Department of Economic Affairs, he was working as Rajasthan chief secretary. Mehrishi has served on many positions in the state government. He was joint secretary in the cabinet secretariat. Mehrishi is said to be the brains behind key labour reforms in Rajasthan.
