Union Government to set up 2000 Telecom Towers in Tribal Areas

The Union Government on 29 March 2013 decided to set up 2000 telecom towers in tribal areas  with a cost of  around 3000 crore Rupees.

With over 93 crore mobile connections in use, the next e-governance revolution would be expected to happen around mobile telephones. The government has created special programmes to ensure that all the services being provided now online through kiosks can be provided through mobile phones as well.

The domestic IT industry is expected to grow at 12% over the next four years, reaching a size of R1.75 lakh crore by 2016. While the IT services segment is expected to grow at 14% to R96600 crore by 2016, the hardware segment is likely to grow 6% to R44,400 crore and the software products will grow by 14% to R34400 crore.

In addition, the government is also planning to set up 10 more Software Technology Parks of India for promoting IT exports.
