US Announced 150000 US Dollar Financial Aid for Uttarakhand

US Ambassador to India on 23 June 2013 announced that US would provide 150000 US dollar to NGOs that are working for affected areas of Uttarakhand.

US Ambassador to India Nancy J Powell on 23 June 2013 announced that US would provide 150000 US dollar through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to NGOs that are working for affected areas of Uttarakhand.

The US embassy declared that the support would help in providing emergency relief to families of people living in the state. It is important to note that Government of India on 19 June 2013 announced a disaster relief fund of 1000 crore rupees to Uttarakhand.

Uttrakhand in the third week of June 2013 was stuck by flash floods and landslides. During this natural disaster in the state, more than 100 people lost their life and thousands remained stranded. Rescue operations by Indian Army are still on their way.
