Grand jury of US on 14 March 2014 indicted Indian diplomat Devyani Khobragade, the person accused for visa fraud and for under paying her housekeeper.

Earlier, the virtually identical charges against Devyani were dropped by a court on 12 March 2014 on the ground that she enjoyed diplomatic immunity.  US on 12 December 2014 was detained in New York on the suspicion of Visa fraud and making false statements about the payment of her Indian maid Sangeeta Richard, which was lower than the US minimum wages.
