Gairsain: Place where for the 1st time Uttarakhand Assembly session held outside Dehradun
Three-day Uttarakhand Assembly session held at Gairsain in Chamoli from 9 June to 11 June 2014. The assembly session of Uttarakhand was held for the first time outside the capital city, Dehradun, since its formation in 2000.
The second Assembly building was laid by former Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna in January 2013 in the Bhararisain area of Gairsain.
Since the formation people of has been demanding, Gairsain to be made state’s permanent capital. Harish Rawat, the Chief Minister of the state has described this session as a token of respect to the sentiments of agitationists of Uttarakhand statehood.
