Waqar Younis appointed as head coach of Pakistan cricket team
Pakistan Cricket Board has appointed the former fast bowler of Pakistan, Waqar Younis as the national coach of the national team of Pakistan.
Waqar Younis, the former fast bowler of Pakistan on 6 May 2014 was appointed as the national coach of the national cricket team of Pakistan for a period of two years. His name was finally formalised by the Pakistan Cricket Board after his name was declared a week ago by Najam Sethi, the Chairman of the Board.
His name was selected by a committee constituted by PCB that met in Lahore. The committee included
• Intikhab Alam - Director Domestic Cricket Operations
• Haroon Rashid - Director Game Development
• Moin Khan – the Chief selector
His tenure as a coach will start from June, when he will join the team. Earlier, he had served the Pakistan side as bowling coach on 2006-2007 and briefly in 2009. From 2010 to 11, he also served as the head coach of the team.
Waqar will join the national side of Pakistan as a coach in June 2014 because at the time of appointment, he was in India in connection with an IPL assignment. His first assignment after joining the team will be a home series against Australia in UAE in October 2014 that comprise comprising one-off Twenty20, three ODIs and two Tests.
