The selection committee has announced the team for the Indian team's tour of Sri Lanka. Hard-hitting batsman Suryakumar Yadav has been made the captain of the T20 team. While Shubman Gill has been made the vice-captain of the ODI and T20 teams. Let us tell you that Hardik Pandya was the vice-captain of the Indian team in the T20 World Cup. Rohit Sharma remains the ODI captain.

2. (c) Ursula von der Leyen

Ursula von der Leyen has been re-elected as President of the European Union's Executive Commission. Members of the European Parliament have elected Ursula for a second five-year term.

3. (c) Sri Lanka

Women's Asia Cup 2024 is starting from today in Dambulla (Sri Lanka), eight teams are participating in this tournament. Which includes defending champions India, Pakistan, Nepal, United Arab Emirates, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Malaysia and Thailand. The first match is being played between Nepal and UAE. Whereas in the second match, India will face Pakistan.

4. Japan

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) inaugurated an electronic-waste recycling box in collaboration with a Japanese firm. Recycling boxes will be used at 15 metro stations here to recycle various waste items, including printer ink bottles. According to officials, the Japanese Ambassador inaugurated the facility along with DMRC Managing Director Vikas Kumar.   

5. Haryana

Haryana state government has recently announced to give 10% reservation to Agniveers in Mining Guard and Police recruitment. Also, 5% reservation has been announced for recruitment to Group C posts. Apart from this, there is also talk of relaxation in upper age limit for the candidates. Under this, Agniveers will be given additional exemption of 3 years.     

6. (b) Shaurya Bawa

India's Shaurya Bava won the bronze medal at the World Junior Squash Championships 2024 in Houston, Texas. This is only the second medal won by an Indian male squash player at the World Junior Squash Championships.  Asian Games gold medallist Kush Kumar was the last Indian to reach the semi-finals of the tournament in 2014.

7. (a) Sports Ministry

In view of the Paris Olympics, the government's ambitious Khelo India Rising Talent Identification (KIRTI) programme was launched by the Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment, Dr. It is going to get a fresh boost under the leadership of Mansukh Mandaviya. Its second phase will be started on 19th July. Earlier, the first phase of Kirti was launched in Chandigarh on March 12 this year.

8. (a) Maharashtra

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced a new scheme, 'Ladka Bhau' scheme, for the unemployed youth of the state on July 17, 2024. Under the scheme, a Class 12 pass trainee will get Rs 6,000, a diploma holder will get Rs 8,000, and a graduate degree holder will get Rs 10,000 per month.

9. (b) Suman's berries

The Narendra Modi-led NDA government reconstituted the NITI Aayog, with four full-time members and 15 Union ministers, including BJP allies, as either ex-officio members or special invitees. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will continue to be the chairman of NITI Aayog and economist Suman K Beri will continue to be the vice-chairman of NITI Aayog.

10. (c) Roberta Metsola

Roberta Metsola has recently been re-elected President of the European Parliament. Metsola has been appointed for the next two and a half years. Metsola received 562 votes out of 623 ballots cast by newly elected MPs. The European Parliament is the legislative body of the European Union and one of its seven institutions.
