1. (a) Seychelles
Seychelles President Danny Faure, ahead of his state visit to India, denied undertaking India-Seychelles joint project to develop naval base at Assumption Island of Seychelles. He also stated that Seychelles will develop military facilities at the island on its own.

The World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought (WDCD) is observed every year to promote public awareness of international efforts to combat desertification. The theme of 2018 World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought was Land has true value – invest in it.

3. (a) Anukreethy Vas

Anukreethy Vas was crowned Femina Miss India World 2018. Anukreethy, who beat 30 contestants to bag the honour, will now represent India at this year's Miss World.

4. (a) JP Nadda

The Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare J P Nadda has launched the National Health Resource Repository. This resource repository shall enable advanced research towards ongoing & forthcoming healthcare challenges arising from other determinants of health such as disease and environment.

The redevelopment of the seven colonies - Nauroji Nagar, Netaji Nagar, Sarojini Nagar, Mohammadpur, Sriniwaspuri, Kasturba Nagar and Thyagaraj Nagar is expected to increase the green area coverage by about 3 times from the existing green space area and the compensatory plantation of trees will be done in the ratio of 1:10 thereby resulting in enhanced tree coverage area.

7. (b) Red Fort

Four Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) have been signed under ‘Adopt a Heritage’ scheme and six more are at an advanced stage. The MoU for adoption of Red Fort was signed between Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Culture, ASI and Dalmia Bharat Limited.

On June 19, the United States withdrew from the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) and condemned its bias against Israel. The announcement came after the top UN human rights official criticised Washington for separating migrant children from their parents who are seeking asylum after crossing into the country from Mexico.

9. (d) Canada

The Canadian Senate has passed a landmark law that legalises the recreational use of marijuana nationwide. The Cannabis Act passed its final hurdle today in a 52-29 vote in the Senate. The bill controls and regulates how the drug can be grown, distributed and sold. Canadians will be able to buy and consume the drug legally as early as September 2018. The country is the first in the G7 to legalise the drug's recreational use.

10. (b) IIT Kharagpur

The Union Human Resource Development Minister, Prakash Javadekar launched the new digital initiative of HRD Ministry ‘National Digital Library of India (NDLI)’on the occasion of National Reading Day (NRD) in New Delhi on June 19, 2018. The library has been developed by IIT Kharagpur. It is a single window platform that collects and collates metadata from premier learning institutions in India and abroad, as well as other relevant sources.
