1.(b)JK Rowling
J.K Rowling has released the first five chapters of her new book ‘The Ickabog’ online for free. The author famous for the Harry Potter book series announced the news on her website. J.K Rowling has also planned to release the book as a print book, audiobook, and e-book formats in November 2020. The famous author will donate the royalties to the groups who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Karnataka has banned the entry of people coming from five states- Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh to contain the spread of COVID-19 virus. The decision was taken by the state cabinet on May 28, 2020. The state government said that no train or flight from any of these states will be allowed to enter or land in the state. 

3. (a)Farooq Abdullah
Five Members of Parliament including former J&K CM Farooq Abdullah, Union Minister Jitendra Singh and others such as Jugal Kishore Sharma, Hasnain Masoodi and Mohammad Akbar Lone have been nominated as the delimitation panel’s associate members from Jammu and Kashmir. They will assist the panel in redrawing parliamentary and assembly constituencies of J&K.

First Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Ajit Jogi passed away on May 29, 2020. He was 74. The news of his demise was shared by his son Amit Jogi on his twitter handle. The late leader was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Raipur after suffering a cardiac arrest on May 9.

Goa has demanded that people entering the state through roal, rail or air must carry a COVID-19 certificate or get themselves tested after their arrival for the infection.

Wipro on May 29, 2020 announced the appointment of Thierry Delaporte as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD) of the company, effectively from July 6, 2020.

China, the largest crude steel producer in the world, is the only nation that reported a marginal rise in crude steel output in April 2020. As per the World Steel Association, China produced 85.03 MT steel in April 2020, which is marginally higher than its steel output of 84.87 MT in April 2019.

NASA has renamed its next-generation space telescope- Wide-Field Infrared Survey Telescope (WFIRST), after the space agency’s first chief astronomer Nancy Grace Roman. Nancy Grace Roman is considered as the mother of Hubble Space Telescope, which was launched 30 years ago.

In a first, Twitter on May 26, 2020 labelled tweets from US President Donald Trump as misleading by highlighting two of his tweets that falsely claimed mail-in ballots would lead to widespread voter fraud. The social media giant labelled both the tweets with a message that read- “ Get the facts about mail-in-ballots”. The message was linked to a fact-checking platform.

The US President Donald Trump on May 28, 2020 signed an executive order to increase the government’s ability to regulate social media platforms. Trump stated that the move is being taken to defend free speech from one of the gravest dangers it has faced in American history.
