ANSWER

1. (c) Both II and II

These MoUs/agreements were signed during the Malaysian Prime Minister Mohd Najib Bin Tun Abdul Razak’s visit to India. Raazak was on a six-day visit (from 30 March - 04 April 2017) to India.

2.  (b) Only I, II and III

The CIRDAP centre would help the NIRD & PR to enhance its position in the region through connections with other institutes in the CIRDAP member countries and help it create its own storehouse of institutional knowledge. It would also benefit the faculty at the institute with exchange visits to the best practices in the CIRDAP member countries.

3. (d) I, III and IV

The features of the Air Services Agreement include that both countries will be entitled to designate one or more airline. While Indian carriers will be able to operate to any points in Georgia from any point in India, Georgia will only be able to establish direct operation to six points in India including New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai and Goa.

5. (c) Japan

Japan officially recognized bitcoin and digital currencies as legal money with effect from 1 April 2017. The recognition comes after implementation of a new law amending Banking Act in Japan for legalizing these currencies. The step will facilitate integration of digital currency into legal banking system through regulatory scrutiny.

6. (a) 100 Million for 100 Million

Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi launched his child rights campaign '100 Million for 100 Million' at Saint Joseph Higher Secondary School in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The campaign is aimed at mobilising millions of children from affluent families globally to speak up for their underprivileged peers. The campaign was launched by President Pranab Mukherjee in December 2016 in New Delhi.

7. (b) Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Rainbow Flag

Gilbert Baker is a gay rights activist and the creator of the iconic Rainbow Flag. The rainbow flag debuted at the Gay Freedom Day Parade in June 1978 in San Francisco. It was designed for the movie named Milk.

8. (c) Mahatma Gandhi Pravasi Suraksha Yojana

The scheme was launched with an aim to cover 5 million overseas blue collar Indian workers who have the ECR category passports in 17 countries. However, the subscription under the MGPSY was very low and no new subscription was received for more than a year.

The 64th National Film Awards were announced on 7 April 2017. The awards will be presented by Directorate of Film Festivals of India to honour the best films of 2016 in the Indian cinema. The award ceremony will be held on 3 May 2017. Marathi movie Kasaav won the National Film Awards for the Best Feature Film.

The 64th National Film Awards were announced on 7 April 2017. The awards will be presented by Directorate of Film Festivals of India to honour the best films of 2016 in the Indian cinema. The award ceremony will be held on 3 May 2017. Sonam Kapoor-starrer 'Neerja', which was directed by Ram Madhvani, was declared as the Best Hindi Feature Film.

The Pakistan Test captain, Misbah-ul-Haq, on 6 April 2017 announced that he would be retiring from international cricket after the end of the Test series in West Indies. However, the cricketer will continue to play cricket at the domestic level.

India’s ace batsman Virat Kohli on 5 April 2017 was named the Leading Cricketer in the World for 2016. The announcement was made in the Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack, which is also often referred to as the ‘Bible of the Cricket.’ Kohli also features on the cover of the 2017 edition of the Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack. It shows the cricketer playing a reverse sweep in a Test match.

13. (a) Thailand

Thailand’s King Maha Vajiralongkorn on 6 April 2017 signed a military-backed Constitution of the country into a law. The signing is an essential step toward an election that would bring the country back to democratic rule.

14. (b) Depression: Let's Talk

World Health Day is being observed on 7 April 2017 with theme 'Depression: Let's Talk. On this occasion, the World Health Organization (WHO) is leading a one-year global campaign on depression which is the leading cause of ill health and disability worldwide.

International Day of Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action was observed on 4 April 2017 across the world. The theme of the year 2017 is Needs driven. People Centred.
