1. (c) Mansukh Mandaviya

Mansukh Mandaviya has taken charge as India's new Health Minister, replacing Dr Harsh Vardhan. He is among the seven ministers who got elevated to the Union Cabinet on July 7, 2021. Mansukh Mandaviya will take charge of the clubbed Ministry of Health and Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers.

2. (a) Ashwini Vaishnaw 

Former IAS Officer Ashwini Vaishnaw has taken charge as India's new Railways Minister and IT Minister in the first major cabinet reshuffle of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cabinet on July 8, 2021. 

3. (b) Haiti 

Haiti President Jovenel Moise was assassinated by gunmen in his home on July 7, 2021. His wife was also wounded in the attack, confirmed interim Prime Minister of Haiti, Claude Joseph. The police and military were in control of security in Haiti, which has a history of political upheaval and dictatorship. 

4. (a) Sirisha Bandla

Indian-origin Sirisha Bandla is set to become the second Indian-born woman to fly into space after Kalpana Chawla. The Indian-American astronaut will be one of the six crew members aboard Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic flight ‘VSS Unity’, which is scheduled to blast off to space on July 11, 2021 from New Mexico.

5. (c) Thawarchand Gehlot

Union Minister Thaawarchand Gehlot has been appointed as the new Governor of Karnataka in the new Governor appointments made by President Ram Nath Kovind. The Minister will be submitting his resignation from all three positions including Rajya Sabha MP and Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment in person.

6. (a) PS Sreedharan Pillai

PS Sreedharan Pillai, the current Governor of Mizoram, has been appointed as Governor of Goa.

7. (b) Minister of Information and Broadcasting

Anurag Thakur was among the 43 new Ministers who were sworn into PM Modi's cabinet on July 7, 2021. He has received two portfolios of Minister of Information and Broadcasting and Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports.

8. (c) Kerala 

The Indian state of Kerala has declared a state of alert in all districts after identifying 14 cases of the Zika virus. A six-member central team of experts has been dispatched to Kerala to get a grip on the situation in the state, stated the Union Health Ministry on July 9, 2021.

9. (b) Himachal Pradesh

Former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh and Congress leader Virbhadra Singh passed away in the early hours of July 8, 2021, after battling a prolonged illness. He was 87. The veteran leader was a nine-time MLA, a five-time Member of Parliament and had served as the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh for six terms.

10. (c) Andy Jassy

Jeff Bezos stepped down as Amazon's CEO on July 5, 2021 exactly 27 years since he founded the e-commerce company in a garage in West Bellevue, Wash. Amazon Web Services CEO Andy Jassy has succeeded him as the new Amazon CEO.

11. (a) Morepen Laboratories

Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and Morepen Laboratories have announced the production of a test batch of Sputnik V in an exclusive facility in Himachal Pradesh. The first test batch will be shipped for quality controls to Gamaleya Institute.

12. (b) UK

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on July 5, 2021, announced that all COVID-19 lockdown restrictions including wearing face masks, social distancing, and work from home will end on July 19, 2021, in England. The final decision to lifting the ban will be announced on July 12.

13. (a) Pfizer and BioNTech 

Pfizer and BioNTech announced on July 8, 2021 that they would seek regulatory authorization for a third booster dose of their Covid-19 vaccine. The announcement comes after the initial data from an ongoing trial showed that a third shot increases the antibody level by 5-10 times against the original SARS-CoV-2 strain and the Beta variant first detected in South Africa, in comparison to the first two doses alone. 

14. (b) Rajasthan

After the declaration of Ramgarh Vishdhari Sanctuary as the fourth Tiger Reserve in Rajasthan, the state government has been planning on developing a tiger corridor connecting three Tiger Reserves passing through districts including Sawai Madhopur, Kota, and Bundi.
