Samsung has opened the world's largest mobile factory in Noida, India. The factory will be officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and visiting South Korean President Moon Jae-in on July 9, 2018.
2. (a) Himachal Pradesh
The Himachal Pradesh government on July 7, 2018 issued a fresh notification banning the use of thermocol cutlery across the state.
3. (b) Andhra Pradesh
For the second year in a row, Andhra Pradesh has topped the third edition of the government’s ‘Ease of Doing Business’ Index 2018 with a final score of 98.42 percent. Andhra Pradesh was followed by neighbouring Telangana (98.33 percent score) and Haryana (98.07 percent score) at the second and third position, respectively.
4. (c) Gujarat
The Gujarat Government granted religious minority status to Jewish community living in the state. The GR to this effect was issued on July 6 by the state’s Department of Social Justice and Empowerment. As religious minority members professing the faith of Judaism, they shall get the religious minority rights envisaged in the Constitution and various acts and rules of the state government.

According to ‘Twiplomacy’ 2018 study, India’s external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj is not only the most followed female world leader but also the most followed foreign minister in the world. She occupies the seventh spot in the overall ranking.

Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel was appointed as the Chairperson of the National Green Tribunal (NGT). His tenure as NGT Chairperson has been specified as being for a period of 5 years from the date he assumes office, or till he reaches the age of 70 years, whichever is earlier.

The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on July 12, 2018 constituted a High-Level Panel on Digital Cooperation. The panel will be co-chaired by Melinda Gates, Co-Chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and Jack Ma, Executive Chairman of Alibaba Group.

The Telecom Commission of India has approved the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India's (TRAI) net neutrality recommendations that bar service providers from discriminating against internet content and services by blocking, throttling or granting them higher speed access.
9. (a) Supreme Court
The Supreme Court of India has stated that the social stigma and discrimination attached to the LGBTQ community would go if the criminality of consensual gay sex is done away with. The court stated this while maintaining that it would scrutinise the constitutional validity of section 377 of the IPC in detail.
10. (d) Hima Das
Sprinter Hima Das on July 12, 2018 scripted history by becoming the first Indian woman to win a gold at the IAAF World Under-20 Athletics Championships as she clinched to top spot in the women's 400 m final race on the third day of competitions in Tampere, Finland.
