15 October 2013: International White Cane Day
International White Cane Day was observed on 15 October 2013 all over the world. The day is celebrated to let people know the importance of white cane and also promote a safe environment for its users. A range of activities are held across the world to popularize the white cane as a positive means of independence and mobility for visually impaired people.
The cane also known Hoover cane named after Dr Richard Hoover is designed primarily as a mobility tool to detect objects in the path of user.
