Bihar: Population as per Census 2011
The population of Bihar was 104,099,452 as per Census 2011. As per the information, there is an increase from the figure of 82,999,509 in census 2001. Out of total population, 54,278,157 were males and 49,821,295 were females.
The growth in the decade in the total population was 25.42 % however in the previous decade the population growth was 28.43%. Bihar’s population forms 8.6% of India in the year 2011 however it formed 8.07 % in 2001.

Hindi and Urdu are the official languages of the Bihar state, whilst the majority of the people speak one of the Bihari languages - Bhojpuri, Magadhi, Maithili or Angika. Bhojpuri and Magahi are sometimes considered dialects of Hindi, while Maithili and Angika are not. Maithili is also one of the recognized regional languages of India as per the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution of India.
