Miss Universe Winners (1952-2023): The Miss Universe pageant is one of the most prestigious and well-known beauty competitions in the world. The 72nd Miss Universe pageant was successfully held on November 18, 2023, at the José Adolfo Pineda Arena in San Salvador, El Salvador where 84 contestants from around the globe competed for the coveted crown. The 71st Miss Universe, R'Bonney Gabriel of the United States, crowned her successor and the Miss Universe 2023 winner Sheynnis Palacios from Nicaragua.

Miss Universe 2022 beauty pageant finally took place on January 14, 2023. 84 contestants participated in the competition, exhibiting both beauty and brains to win the prestigious Miss Universe crown. The winner was crowned at the end of the ceremony by the 70th Miss Universe, India's Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu. She was the third beauty from India to win the Miss Universe crown after 21 years. In 2000, Lara Dutta was crowned Miss Universe and in 1994, Sushmita Sen.

Miss USA 2022 R'Bonney Gabriel won the coveted Miss Universe crown with Venezuela's Amanda Dudamel and Dominican Republic's Andreína Martínez coming in as the 1st and 2nd runner-up respectively.

On  January 14, 2023, USA's R'Bonney Gabriel was crowned Miss Universe 2022 by the 70th Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu of India. Sandhu herself created history the previous year after winning the Miss Universe 2021 title by defeating 80 contestants in a pageant that was marred by politics and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Miss Universe is a beauty pageant held annually and is run by the US-based Miss Universe Organisation. It is one of the most-watched beauty pageants in the world. The beauties who won the title of Miss Universe had the privilege to be the most beautiful women in the entire universe. As per the reports, the Miss Universe Prize Money is about $ 250,000, including perks and benefits.

1. Armi Kuusela from Finland in 1952 became the first Miss Universe.

2. In 2018, Catriona Gray was crowned Miss Universe and it was the Philippines ' fourth win.  She was the fourth Philippine to win the Miss Universe title just 3 years after Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach won the title in 2015.

3. In 2017, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters’ won the Miss Universe title that ended the 39-year gap between the two Miss Universe title holders of South Africa. In 1978, South Africa first won the crown.

4. The most number of Miss Universe titles has been won by the United States since the pageant's creation in 1952.

About R'Bonney Gabriel

R’Bonney Gabriel is an American model who also won the Miss USA 2022 title. Her full name is R’Bonney Nola Gabriel, and she is of Filipino descent from her father’s side. R’Bonney was born on March 20, 1994, in Houston, Texas. She is 28 years old and has three older brothers.

R’Bonney graduated with a Bachelor in Fashion Design from the University of North Texas and is a proponent of eco-friendly clothing. Her hobbies include backpacking, hula hooping, sewing and reading. Gabriel is the ninth American in history and the first since Olivia Culpo (Miss Universe 2012) to be crowned Miss Universe.

About Harnaaz Sandhu   

Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu was crowned the 70th Miss Universe on 12 December 2021, beating contestants from 80 countries. She is pursuing her master's degree in public administration and was crowned by her predecessor Andrea Meza of Mexico, who won the Miss Universe title in 2020.

Paraguay's Nadia Ferreira finished second and South Africa's Lalela Mswane came third. The final question that was asked to Ms. Sandhu was what advice would she give to young women on how to deal with the pressure they face today.

She answered "The biggest pressure the youth of today is facing is to believe in themselves, to know that you are unique and that's what makes you beautiful. Stop comparing yourselves with others and let's talk about more important things that's happening worldwide."

"This is what you need to understand. Come out, speak for yourselves because you are the leader of your life, you are the voice of your own. I believed in myself and that's why I am standing here today."

She started her journey in pageantry when she won Times Fresh Face in 2017. She represented Chandigarh at the age of 17. She also won the LIVA Miss Diva Universe 2021 title.

She also worked in Punjabi films including "Yaara Diyan Poo Baran" and "Bai Ji Kuttange".
