Century scorers in the Cricket World Cup

“Dennis Amiss” of England was the first person who scored the first century in the ICC Cricket World Cup against India in the World Cup of 1975. Dennis Amiss scored 137 runs after playing 147 runs and hit 18 fours.

Since the inception of the cricket world cup there are 196 centuries have been scored in the cricket World Cup. Out of these 196 centuries 32 are scored by the Indian cricketers.

Ex Indian captain Kapil Dev was the first Indian player who hit the century in the ICC Cricket World Cup. Kapil scored 175 (Not out) against Zimbabwe in the World Cup of 1983.

Sourav Ganguly has the record of highest score (183 runs against Sri Lanka in 1999) in the ICC World Cup by an Indian so far. Sunil Gavaskar was the second Indian who hit century in the cricket World Cup.

After the 6 centuries of the Sachin Tendulkar; Rohit Sharma 5, Saurav Ganguly scored 4 centuries in the World Cups which includes 3 centuries in the World Cup 2003.

Kohli hit the fastest century in the ICC World Cup from Indian side. He completed his century in just 83 balls against Bangladesh in 2011 World Cup.
