Punjab: Urban Population as per Census 2011

    As per the census 2011, out of the entire population of the state, Punjab 37.48% people reside in urban areas. 10,399,146 people out of the total population live in urban area in which the number of males is 5,545,989 and females are 4,853,157.

     In last 10years, the urban population has incremented by 37.48 percent. In Urban areas, the sex ratio was 852 females per 1000 males. 

    The total number of children between 0-6 years living in urban areas was 1,130,717.  10.87 % were children (0-6) of the total population in urban areas.  For urban areas in Punjab, the average Literacy rate was 83.18 %. The males were 86.67% literate and females at 68.29%.  Punjab, total literates in urban region were 7,709,480.
