Stockholm Water Prize
Founder of the Sulabh International Social Service Organisation, Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak was honoured with the Stockholm Water Prize. Pathak is known worldwide for advancement and focus in the areas of public health, social progress and human rights. He has done extensive work since founding the organization in 1970 supporting the installation of modernized, sanitary toilet systems in India. He led the development of cost-effective and culturally acceptable public toilets and waste water treatment systems which are now used daily by 10 million poor people in India. The Stockholm Water Prize, is the world's most prestigious award for outstanding achievement in water-related activities.
