Seven students of the Cochin University of Science and Technology have been offer INR 18 Lakh placement offers. Of these 7 students, 5 are from the Safety and Fire Engineering Department and the offer has been made by ONGC and the remaining two students are from the computer science engineering stream and the offer to them has been made by a software giant.
James Verghese, Chief Placement Officer, CUSAT said, ' Majority of offers are from the software companies. Very few core engineering group companies are coming for campus placements. This year the software companies have increased their salary by INR 10,000 per annum.' Around 570 students received campus placement offers this year at CUSAT. The university saw an increase of about 200 candidates who received the offer this year as compared to last year.
Around 105 recruiters selected hundreds of students from the university with an average salary of INR 4.94 lakhs. Some of the major recruiters that hired students include various software companies such as TCS, Infosys, IBM, CISCO, Amazon, Verizon and core companies such as L&T, Godrej, CEAT, Vedanta, ONGC, Reliance, Indraprastha gas etc.
CUSAT has also seen an increase in internship offers made to the pre-final year students. Major companies are offering internships and projects to students through the placement cell. Varghese also said that 'the better placement this year is due to the better ranking achieved by the university's School of Engineering at National Level.
