Fight Corona IDEAthon Launched: AICTE and MHRD Innovation Cell has launched a unique initiative under the banner of "Fight Corona IDEAthon". The unique initiative launched by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) aims to bring together student innovators, educators and researchers from across the country on a single platform to help find novel solutions to fight Coronavirus in India. The IDEAthon will be held in online format in association with MHRD Innovation cell and in partnership with Forge & InnovatioCuris. The IDEAthon will be held on March 27 and March 28 in which student innovators and educators can submit their suggestions to fight the COVID-19 epidemic in the country.
Rs 2 Lakh on Selection of Idea
The ‘Fight Corona IDEAthon’ will be held in completely virtual mode through online platforms and internet, which see participants from across the country come on a single platform to discuss the challenges that COVID-19 has posed before us. In the second stage, participants will present their innovative ideas and solutions to tackle the menace of Coronavirus in the country. Ideas that get selected for the next stage will be evaluated, mentored, documented, and selected for the next stages of incubation support; as per the official notification. AICTE will award Rs 2 lakh to students and educators, separately upon selection of their ideas. In addition to this, a few participants who are selected by the HRD Innovation Cell will also be eligible for an innovation grant up to Rs 40 lakhs.

According to the official notification of ‘Fight Corona IDEAthon’, the online mentorship programme will see "1000s of innovators, researchers, scientists, and educators from across India are joining hands like a true community for this 2-day online IDEAthon to generate and transform innovative ideas into viable solutions that can support the community in managing the uncertainties arising out of the pandemic.” Registrations for ‘Fight Corona IDEAthon’ are open until 12 pm today (March 26).
