AIIMS Admission 2019: According to media reports, a total of 9 MBBS seats have remained vacant at the end of final admission to MBBS programme offered by All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). AIIMS, which is deemed to be India’s most prestigious institute as far as medical education is concerned; has reported that 9 seats remained vacant in MBBS course offered by it, at its various campuses located across the country. The data or information regarding the vacant MBBS seat at AIIMS was provided by the institute in response to an RTI Query.
Details of Vacant Seats Provided through RTI Query
As per media reports, the detailed information about the vacant MBBS seat at AIIMS was provided by the institute in reply to an RTI Query. The RTI query filed by Neemach-based activist Chandrashekhar Gaud on September 12, which revealed that a total of 9 seats remained vacant after the completion of final admission process to AIIMS on 31st August 2019.
Campus-wise Vacant MBBS Seats
Furthermore, the RTI query also revealed that at the end of the final counselling round held on 26th August 2019, none of the MBBS seats remained vacant. However, after the completion of final admission process on 31st August 2019, a total of 9 seats remained vacant at different campuses of AIIMS across India. Of the total 9 vacant seats, one seat each was vacant in Raipur, Bhatinda and Nagpur campuses, while two seats were vacant in Rae Bareli, Deogarh and Patna campuses of AIIMS.
AIIMS Admission 2019 - Counselling Process
Typically, AIIMS organizes three counselling rounds to facilitate allocation of seats to the applicants for admission to MBBS programme offered by it at its different campuses. At the end of the three counselling rounds, AIIMS organizes an open round counselling session in which vacant seats are allocated to the students through surrender or resignation. The list of vacant seats available for open round is released by the institute a day prior to the open round. For 2019, the open counselling round for AIIMS Admission was held on 26th August 2019 for a total of 179 seats, of which admission was granted on 170 seats.
