All India Radio (AIR) is all set to launch a unique English training programme titled ‘Aao Angrezi Seekhein’. The programme has been conceptualized as a learning aid for students and is intended to help them brush up their English speaking skills. ‘Aao Angrezi Seekhein’ English Training Programme will be launched from 1st September 2019. The show will be aired at 11 AM onwards on all working days.
‘Aao Angrezi Seekhein’ Training Programme has been developed by UN International Children's Fund (UNICEF) in collaboration with Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) of the Uttar Pradesh Government. The programme will have 120 episodes of 15 minutes each. It will be broadcast throughout the 2019-20 academic session
Pilot Project at UP KGVBs
The pilot project will be launched from the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBV) and students from the KGVB will listen to the English lessons offered under the ‘Aao Angrezi Seekhein’ Training Radio Programme. The programme will be targeted at students studying in Classes 5th to 8th and Junior College Students. UP Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) Project Director Vijay Kiran Anand has directed all basic ‘Shiksha Adhikaris’ operational at district level to ensure smooth and effective implementation of the project in their region. As part of the programmes, mothers of students and school management committee members will also attend the broadcast of the radio programme.
‘Aao Angrezi Seekhein’ Training Programme has been designed to help improve Spoken English and Auditory Skills of the students participating in the programme. The programme will focus on the daily conversations that students can have among themselves, with their parents, teachers and family members. It will also help students to focus on the helping students learn the correct pronunciations of the necessary words.
After the completion of the programme, teachers will hold a revision lesson with the students, based on the highlights of each lesson. This will help students imbibe the knowledge in a more thorough and concrete manner. As part of the revision session, teachers will also hold Discussions to supplement English learning among students.
