NDA 2018 Examination: This year in the NDA, i.e. the National Defence Academy, examination around 13,000 candidates took part at 36 centers across Chandigarh. It was conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The Union Territory was the only center for the aspirants from Punjab and Haryana appearing for the NDA examination 2018. The entrance exam was conducted in two slots wherein Paper-I consisted of 120 mathematical questions and Paper-II had 150 General Studies questions, including 50 questions from the English section. As per the statement published by the Times of India, one of the candidates claimed that Paper-I of Mathematics was comparatively lengthy this time as he attempted more than 75 questions while paper-II was a moderate one, and relatively easier. He was hoping to secure around 400 marks.
Another student named Akash, reportedly hailing from an Army background, stated, “I did fairly well in Mathematics as well as in general science paper. In the Mathematics paper options were tricky and it was a lengthy paper while the English, as well as social sciences paper, were slightly knotty, but I think I will score around 350.” One of the aspirants claimed that though he found the Mathematics questions to be moderate but lengthy, the General Studies section, including English, was easy.
After scrutinising the NDA paper, defence career analyst Kunal Singh said to the Times of India, "One shift in NDA general studies paper we observed is that the questions even in physics, geography and social sciences were on similar patterns with UPSC with multiple fundamentals asked in a single question. Many questions were repeated and with 21 repeated questions out of 53 in the science section, 12 straightforward questions in geography followed by moderate English, NDA -II, 2018, can be certainly termed as moderate.”
