According to media reports, the Assam state board will not be releasing the list of top 10 rank holders for the High School Leaving Certificate (Class 10) students this year. The Assam state board recently cancelled the exams for the class 10 and 12 students and the results of the students will be prepared based on the recommendations made by the expert committees.
Committee to submit reports
The Assam state government asked the two committees to submit their reports within a week regarding the marking scheme for the class 10 and 12 students. The rank list however will not be prepared owing to the pandemic situation, said Chairman of Expert Committee for class 10 results - Alok Buragohain. The reports were submitted by the committee on June 24, 2021.
While speaking at a press conference, Professor Buragohain stated that the records of class 9 and 10 exams were colleges with the help of the district school inspectors and a substantial amount of data was collected for developing the model.
The nine-member committee for the class 12 students led by professor Dipak Kumar Sharma will also be submitting the committee report today.
Class 10, 12 exams cancelled
Assam State Education Minister Ranoj Pegu announced that the class 10 and 12 board exams have been canceled this year after conducting consultations with stakeholders considering the COVID-19 situation. He had also announced the formation of two expert committees to prepare the method for evaluating the students based on which the Board of Secondary Education, Assam, and the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council will prepare the results for the class 10 and 12 students respectively. The results are expected to be declared by July 31, 2021.
