Coronavirus Live Updates: UP Government has decided to impose stricter lockdown restrictions in Coronavirus hotspots in the state. As part of this measure, the government has decided to seal 15 Districts of the state including Lucknow, Noida and Ghaziabad. Earlier in the day, amid rising concerns regarding the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in India, PM Narendra Modi had a video conference today with leaders of opposition to discuss the current situation. As per latest figures shared by Health Ministry, India’s tally of COVID-19 positive cases inched closer to 5000 mark with total active cases standing at 4312 and 508 fresh COVID-19 infections being reported on Tuesday. Death Toll also grew to 124. Globally, the Coronavirus has claimed over 82000 lives with over 14.2 lakh people infected. However, today China is expected to lift the 72-day lockdown announced in COVID-19’s initial epicentre of Wuhan.

    UP Govt to seal 15 Districts till 15th April

    UP Government has announced that it will seal 15 districts completely till 15th April 2020 to contain COVID-19 hotspots in state.  The decision has been taken by the government to enforce stricter lockdown orders to contain further spread of the coronavirus. According to reports, the 15 districts being sealed by UP Government include:

    • Agra
    • Ghaziabad
    • Gautam Buddha Nagar
    • Kanpur
    • Varanasi
    • Shamli
    • Meerut
    • Bareilly
    • Bulandshahr
    • Firozabad
    • Maharajganj
    • Sitapur

    • Basti

    PM hints at Lockdown Extension

    As per media reports, PM Modi in his today’s interaction with leaders from the Opposition, hinted that it will not be feasible to lift the lockdown from across the country at the same time on 14th April 2020. Reports also indicate that PM will hold another video conference with State Chief Ministers on 11th April 2020, where the situation will be discussed in detail and a final decision will be taken thereafter.

    Delhi’s state tally rises to 576, 35 Patients in ICU: Health Minister Satyendar Jain

    As per a report published by ANI, the Delhi state tally for COVID-19 positive cases in the National Capital has risen to 576 today. Of the total number of cases, 35 patients are currently admitted to Intensive Care according to the Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain.

    Cases in India cross 5k Mark

    As per the latest figures provided by the Health Ministry, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country crossed 5K mark today. On Wednesday, the total number of Coronavirus cases stood at 5194 including 4643 active cases, 401 cured/discharged people and 149 deaths. On Tuesday, India reported 773 new cases along with 10 Deaths, which is the highest single day rise in the number of cases recorded in 24 Hours.

    With India looking at an extension in the lockdown period across the country amid rising cases of COVID-19, China is expected to lift the 72-day lockdown announced in Wuhan – the initial epicentre of the disease, today. China’s decision to lift the lockdown in Wuhan comes despite reports of rising number of Coronavirus positive cases in the country and two deaths, sparking concerns about a second wave of infections.
