Delhi School Reopening Decision Soon: With concerns around educational loss being incurred by students due to being voiced by parents and academic experts; Delhi State Government may decide to reopen schools soon. On Saturday, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia gave an important hint in this direction saying that over 85% of students from Delhi Government Schools have received COVID-19 vaccination. Along with this, Mr Sisodia also said that with coverage of vaccinated students increasing and decline in COVID-19 cases, the state government might soon decide to reopen schools for students of senior classes. He said a detailed proposal for the same will be placed before DDMA soon and final decision on the same is expected soon.
Private Schools Asked to Vaccinate Students
While interacting with media persons, he also called out private schools to motivate their students to get inoculated against Coronavirus and safeguard students’ health and safety. He said that as compared to 85% students of government schools, so far, only 45% eligible students from private schools have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
According to a report filed by PTI, around 3.5 lakh students from private schools are eligible for COVID-19 vaccination; however, so far only around 2 lakh have been inoculated. On the other hand, 12 out of the 15 education districts, 85 per cent students of Delhi government schools have been vaccinated and there are about 300 schools where 90% eligible students have got the jab.
DoE plans to vaccinate All Eligible Children of 30th January
DoE – the Directorate of Education has set quite an ambitious deadline for 100% Vaccination of Students by 30th January 2022. To meet this hefty target, the state government has directed School Principals to upload daily status of the vaccinated students education department website by 4 PM. Furthermore, class teachers have also been asked to connect with the parents and inform them to take their children or ward to the nearest vaccination centre to get them inoculated.
