Delhi School Reopening Deferred: As per the reports, Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has deferred the reopening of schools for classes 1 to 8 students till 30th September 2021. DDMA concluded a meeting today with the expert committee to take a significant decision on Delhi school reopening for junior classes. However, the decision on Delhi School reopening for junior classes would be taken later. DDMA has also released guidelines and COVID-19 guidelines. Earlier, students of classes 6 to 8 are expected to go back to school from 8th September 2021. It is also to be noted that Delhi Government had already reopened its schools for Class 9 to 12 students with 50% attendance.

Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Final Decision

DDMA conducted the meeting with the expert committee today and came to the decision not to reopen schools of classes 1st to 8th till 30th September 2021. DDMA today has released fresh guidelines and orders for the school reopening. The panel had earlier recommended phase-wise reopening of schools in the city. As per their earlier suggestions, the schools were asked to reopen classes 6 to 8 from 8th September.  Meanwhile, many private students had urged the state government to allow the resumption of offline classes for the students of standard 6 to 8. The request came after the significant improvement of COVID 19 situation.

Schools Closed since March 2020

For junior and primary classes, schools have been closed since March 2020. The official statement of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on school reopening for various classes states, "We are still monitoring the situation. We do not want to take any kind of risk with children. We want to open the school as soon as possible; we will inform you whenever there is a decision regarding this." The students, teachers and non-teaching staff living in COVID containment zones cannot attend offline classes. Students have been asked to submit a no-objection certificate to attend offline classes.

DU Colleges Reopens for Final Year UG, PG Students

Colleges of Delhi University has reopened from today 15th September 2021, onwards. The university colleges will be reopening the practical lab sessions for the final year undergraduate and postgraduate students. The university has set certain guidelines in place to be followed by the students attending the physical classes. Also, the university has introduced a Google form for the consent of parents of those students attending classes. The university will also be sanitizing the labs and inquiring about the vaccination status of the students attending the classes.
