DUSU Result 2018 LIVE: NSUI takes lead on presidential post, ABVP strong on three other positions

DUSU Elections Result 2018: After the peaceful completing of the voting yesterday at both evening as well as morning colleges, the counting of the vote has now begun. The counting of the votes has commenced from today, i.e. September 13, 2018. The counting began at 8:30 am in the Community Hall, Police Lines, Kingsway Camp, Delhi. All parties are making their own promises to bring prosperity to the Delhi University. While the NSUI has made promises like ‘Institute of Eminence’ tag for Delhi University and thalis for Rs.10, the ABVP has promised to spend 50 percent of the union's budget on women and social justice-related activities

As per the media reports, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has won 71 seats in 19 colleges. The RSS-affiliated party won in various colleges, including Hindu College, Shri Ram College of Commerce, Kirori Mal College, Bhagat Singh (Morning), Zakir Hussain (Morning), Dyal Singh (morning) colleges in Wednesday's poll. The National Students' Union Of India (NSUI) won 75 seats in 20 colleges. They won in Sri Venkateswara College, Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, Aryabhatta College, Zakir Hussain College, among others. In Vivekananda College, there was a delay of over an hour in the commencement of the elections, since there was no data available for students to vote for the treasurer's post, sources said. The voting resumed after the data was keyed-in. The Aurobindo College witnessed a turnout of 44.72 per cent, Hansraj 50 per cent, Deshbandhu College 44 per cent and Aditi Mahavidyalaya 48 per cent.

10:55 AM: As per the sources, NSUI is leading in the presidents' post and ABVP is strong on three other posts.

10:42 AM: Lok Janshakti Party led by Ram Vilas Paswan, contested in the college unions elections of 4 colleges of Delhi University on 9 seats in which they have won 5 seats, Rajan Singh of Lok Janshakti Party told sources. 

10:27 AM: Despite of the strict orders by the Delhi High Court on Wednesday, it was informed that political leaders are involved in the defacement of public property during the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections.

10:17 AM: Heavy deployment has been made around Kingsway Camp, where the counting is taking place.

9:25 AM: The Delhi High Court had directed the Central government, Delhi University, and the city police in July to ensure no defacement of public property during the upcoming DUSU elections.

9:00 AM: The ABVP candidate wins presidential polls at the Zakir Hussain College (Morning).

8:43 AM: One of the members of the Congress-backed NSUI said the DUSU elections are like the "semi-final for the Lok Sabha elections and will show what the young, educated voter wants".

8:35 AM: As per the reports, the campaigners have been getting support from the students outside the state.

8:30 AM: The counting has begun at the Community Hall, Police Lines, Kingsway Camp, Delhi.

It was informed to the students who are willing to cast their votes must note that they must carry their identity card. No student will be allowed to enter the premises without their identity card. Every year simultaneous elections are held for the following in the Colleges/Institutions affiliated to Delhi University Students' Union: President of Students' Union of the College/Institution, Member(s) of the Central Council of DUSU from the College/Institution and Office-bearers of the Delhi University Students' Union.
