Putting the severe criticism that is faced by Indian professionals, especially engineers and MBA, the India Skills Report 2019 has noted that engineering (B.E and B.Tech) has grabbed the top spot with the most employable talent in 2019. This is the fourth consecutive year when Engineers have emerged as the most employable talent in India beating other professionals holding degrees such as MBA, B.Sc, B.Pharma, MCA, B.Com, B.Arts and Polytechnic.
As per the report, the India Skills Report 2019 was compiled after conducting a thorough survey of nearly 3 lakh students from varied educational backgrounds. The students selected for the survey report were covered nearly 3200 educational institutes spread across 29 states and 7 Union Territories. The report was compiled on the basis of survey done from July 2018 to November 2019. As per the 2019 report, the overall employability has grown by 2 to 3 percentage points rising to 47.38%.
Top Hiring Sectors and Professionals
The report also highlights the top hiring sectors of the Indian economy. These include Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI), software/hardware as well as manufacturing sector. When it comes to professionals being hired, 57% of the final year or the fresh engineering graduates have been dubbed as employable by the report. This is has marked an increase of about 5% increase in the overall employability quotient of engineers. Among the engineers, Electronics and Communication engineers (60.63 per cent) and Information Technology engineers (60.18 per cent) have the highest employability rate. On the other hand Civil Engineering graduates have the least employability rate.
On the other hand, the employability of MBA graduates dropped by 3 per cent as the exclusivity around MBA as a course has reduced, India Skills Report 2019 said further.
