Gujarat Board Exam 2021: As per the latest update, the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, GSHSEB or GSEB has announced that class 9 to 12 students who are residing in COVID-19 containment zones during their exam period, will be allowed to take-up the exam later. According to the official circular released by the Board to District Education Officers, such students would be allowed to take their exams once their areas are removed from the micro-containment list. As per the official schedule, exam for Class 9 and 11 students is scheduled to commence from 19th March in the state and this decision has been taken keeping in mind the rising number of COVID cases in the state.

Recent Increase in COVID Cases in Gujarat

The decision to allow students residing in containment zones in the state during the exam period to take-up exams later on has been taken by the board keeping in mind the recent increase in the number of COVID-19 cases. Media reports have confirmed that around 60 new areas have been declared as micro containment zones in Ahmedabad city alone. Earlier, the city had about 35 containment zones of which only 5 were removed from the list. However, with the recent spurt in the number of COVID-19 cases, the concern of students and parents regarding the exams, scheduled to begin from March 19, has been addressed by the board.

The decision was announced by Gujarat Board Chairman who said “Since these exams are to be conducted by schools and are important as they will be considered in the Board results, schools have been asked to conduct exams for students whose residences fall under containment zones through a fresh set of question papers.”

Exams Being from 19th March

The circular by Gujarat Board confirming the decision comes a day prior to the start of the annual exams for Class 9 and 11 students. As per the date sheet released earlier, the Gujarat Board is all set to hold the first exams for Class 9 and 11 students from 19th to 27th March 2021. The final exams are scheduled from 7th June to 15th June. As for the GSEB 10th 12th Board Exams, they are scheduled to begin from 10th May 2021.
