Himachal Pradesh Education Board has decided to promote the class 10 students without examinations. According to reports, approximately 1.5 lakh students from class 10 will be promoted without the examinations for the 2021 academic year in Himachal Pradesh.
The Himachal Pradesh Education Board will be promoting the class 10 students based on the pre-board and the first and second term examinations based on internal assessment. The class 10 HP Board examinations have been cancelled in the state owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to officials from the board, the marking criteria based on which the class 10 students will be evaluated will be announced by the board officials soon.
Based on the decision taken by the education department, the 116915 students in class 10 will be relieved while a decision is yet to be made on the class 12 examinations. A meeting will soon be conducted to discuss the course of action on the class 12 Himachal Board exams. According to the schedule released earlier, the Himachal Pradesh class 10 and 12 exams were scheduled to commence on April 13, 2021.
Class 10 Exams cancelled
Himachal Pradesh is not the only board to cancel the class 10 examinations. The Central Board of Secondary Education, the Council for Indian School Certificate Examination were the first to cancel the class 10 board examinations. Following suit, many of the state boards including Maharashtra, Punjab, Telangana, Uttarakhand, Tamil Nadu announced the cancellation of the class 10 board examinations while the decision on the class 12 exams are still pending. Due to the worsening COVID-19 situation across the country, many of the state and national level entrance examinations have also been postponed or cancelled by the respective boards.
