The District Magistrate of Chamoli in Uttarakhand has declared a holiday for tomorrow for all the government and private schools and Anganwadis in the district. The holiday has been issued due to the forecast of heavy rainfall in the regions by the Indian Meteorological Department.
Earlier, the Chief Minister of the state Mister Trivendra Singh Rawat had directed the state administration to speed up the rescue operations in Chamoli which has suffered huge damages after the due to the recent rains received in the area.
The Chief Minister also took to opportunity to offer his condolences to the family members of those who lost their lives in the heavy rains in Chamoli Ghat in recent days. He has also directed the district administration to provide financial aid to the families which have been affected in the district as soon as possible. According to the State Disaster Response Force (SCRF), a total of six people have lost their lives after the cloudburst in Chamoli Gaht in Uttarakhand.
As per the officials, three deaths were reported from the Lakhee Village while two others were killed in Banjbagar Village. Apart from these deaths have also been reported from Auli village where several houses were also incidentally washed away due to the cloudburst. Uttarakhand has been receiving heavy rainfall from the past few days which has caused several landslides and rivers to swell up. The Indian Meteorological Department has also forecasted heavy rainfall in the state for the next three days as well.
