The Ministry of Human Resource Development has informed the Lok Sabha regarding the syllabus for the students of the Bihar intermediate (Class 12). The ministry pointed out that the syllabus was completed for the Bihar class 12 students in phases and was monitored rigorously. According to the information provided, crash courses have also been conducted at the end of the session by the state government of Bihar, the HRD Minister informed.
The Bihar School Examination Board which conducted the Class 10 and 12 (Matric and Intermediate) examinations began the examination process for the intermediate students in the first week of February 2020 itself.
The HRD minister also pointed out that the district officials have also been instructed to conduct regular inspections to streamline the teaching. He also pointed out that continuous evaluation is being conducted in the elementary classes before the students move on to the secondary classes. He also added that the smart classes have been brought in for the secondary schools of Bihar.
When answering a question raised regarding the pass percentage of the class 12 students in recent years in Bihar, the HRD Minister said that according to the information provided by the state government. The pass percentage in the Intermediate Annual Examinations in 2018 and 2019 was 52.75 percent and 80.25 percent respectively.
The minister also added that education is in the Concurrent List of the constitution and the majority of the schools are under the domain of the State and the Union Territory Governments. It has also been informed by the Bihar State Government that development has been made by the state in its curriculum framework in 2008 based on the philosophy and guidelines given by the National Curriculum Framework 2005 which means that the Bihar Board follows the Bihar Curriculum Framework for designing their syllabus and course materials.
Bihar board will be conducting the Class 12 (Intermediate) examination from February 13, 2020, onwards while the class 10 (Matric) examinations will commence from February 17 to 24, 2020.
