HRD Ministry launches National Essay Writing Competition as part 70th Constitution Day

The Ministry of Human Resource Development will be conducting the National Essay Competition as part of the 70th year of the adoption of the Indian Constitution. The Monthly National Essay writing competition which will continue for a year was announced on November 26, 2019, by the HRD Minister along with the inaugurating the first installment of the National Essay Competition.

Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal apart from inaugurating the essay writing competition also launched the ‘Kartavya’ portal on the occasion of the ‘Constitution Day’. The ‘Kartavya’ portal will be used primarily for conducting the monthly essay competitions for the students along with other activities like quizzes, debates, poster making competitions, etc. on Nagrik Kartavya Paalan Abhiyan. The topics for the National Essay Competition of each month will be based on the Fundamental Duties.

The topics for each month’s National Essay Competition will be announced on the 26th of each month. The students who wish to participate in the competition must register for the competition by December 10, 2019. Every participant will be allotted an examination centre on December 16, 2019, and the essay writing competition will be held on December 26, 2019.

The National Essay Competition will conclude in October 2020 on the last essay writing competition date. The students entering the competition must be from Higher Education Institutions in India. The participants can write essays online in either Hindi or English and the competition will be for a duration of 2 hours.

The essay evaluation will be done by experts who will be decided in advance and the winners of the essay writing competition will receive Rs. 15000, Rs. 12,000, Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 7500 respectively.

The 70th Constitution day was celebrated on November 26, 2019, with a Preamble reading along with other actives conducted by the Union HRD Ministry.
